London local authorities successfully sued some 700 construction workers for repeatedly singing "The Banana Boat Song" at night. To the annoyance of nearby residents, the workers on site would chorus, "Come Mr Tallyman, tally me banana, daylight come and I want to go home." Lawyer David Ashton explained: "I'm not against workmen being happy, but happy on appropriate occasions." Fines totalling over $NZ30,000 were handed down.
